FBA Pallet Height: Limits, Stacking, and Carrier Hand-off

Updated 2026-05-26

Answer: Sellers should confirm the current Amazon pallet height limit for the shipment, measure after wrapping, avoid unstable stacks, and make sure the carrier appointment and paperwork match the final pallet dimensions.

Measure the finished pallet

The only height that matters operationally is the finished pallet after cartons, pallet base, top protection, corner boards, and stretch wrap are complete. Planned carton math can be wrong after real packing.

Why height affects cost

Pallet height affects truck loading, warehouse storage, delivery appointment details, and whether the pallet can be stacked or handled normally. Extra height can reduce trailer efficiency and increase rework risk.

Stacking rules

Stack cartons in even layers, keep heavy cartons low, avoid leaning columns, and do not build a tall pallet just to reduce pallet count if the result is unstable or outside Amazon rules.

Forwarder hand-off

Send final pallet dimensions and gross weight to the forwarder before the delivery appointment. If the numbers change after booking, the carrier may need to update the BOL or appointment details.

When to split pallets

Splitting a tall pallet into two shorter pallets can cost more in pallet handling but may prevent rejection, rework, and delivery delays. Compare the small handling increase against the cost of a failed delivery.

What still needs human review

  • Current height limits must be verified in Seller Central for the specific shipment.
  • Some carriers or warehouses may impose stricter handling rules.
