FBA Pallet Requirements and Common Rejection Risks
Updated 2026-05-26
Answer: The most common risks are over-height pallets, weak wrapping, carton overhang, missing labels, mismatched shipment IDs, overweight pallets, mixed inventory without clear carton labels, and delivery paperwork that does not match the appointment.
Rejection risk starts before pickup
Most pallet problems are created before the freight forwarder receives the cargo. If carton labels, pallet count, SKU mix, or shipment IDs are unclear at the factory, the destination warehouse may need paid rework.
Label mismatch
Amazon labels, carton labels, pallet labels, packing lists, and carrier paperwork should all point to the same shipment plan. A mismatch can delay receiving even when the physical freight is in good condition.
Overhang and weak wrapping
Cartons that extend past pallet edges are easier to crush and harder to handle safely. Weak wrap can shift in transit, especially after multiple warehouse touches or long inland trucking legs.
Height and weight issues
Over-height and overweight pallets can trigger accessorial charges, rework, or rejection. Confirm dimensions after wrapping, not only from the planned carton stack.
How to prevent rework
Ask for pallet photos, labels, pallet dimensions, gross weight, carton count, and packing list before export. It is cheaper to correct errors in China than after the shipment reaches a US warehouse or Amazon dock.
What still needs human review
- Amazon receiving decisions can depend on facility-level rules and appointment conditions.
- This guide does not replace Seller Central shipment instructions.
