The clock should start when goods are packed, labeled, documented, and ready for pickup. A production finish date is not the same as freight-ready cargo if labels, inspection, or carton marks are still missing.

Air freight timeline

Air freight can be fast, but it still needs pickup, airport handling, export clearance, flight space, import clearance, destination handling, and delivery. Chargeable weight and product restrictions affect both cost and acceptance.

Ocean LCL timeline

LCL adds consolidation and deconsolidation steps. It can be efficient for smaller ocean shipments, but the extra warehouse handling means it may not be as predictable as a full container.
