Amazon FBA Freight Forwarder: Documents Needed

Updated 2026-06-13

Answer: Prepare the commercial set, routing references, cargo data, and any product-specific compliance documents before pickup is booked.

Start with the commercial document set

Most FBA forwarder handoffs still start with a commercial invoice, packing list, cargo description, declared value, and supplier contact details. If those basics are incomplete, every later routing promise becomes less reliable.

Add route and destination references

Forwarders also need the destination country, Amazon warehouse or prep-center workflow, shipment references, label files, carton marks, and any pallet rules that apply to the final handoff. Clean destination data is what turns a generic export shipment into a workable FBA move.

Prepare customs-sensitive support early

If the goods include batteries, branded products, liquids, magnets, or category-sensitive items, collect the supporting declarations before asking for a final quote. Those documents often decide whether the shipment can move on the preferred lane at all.

Keep packaging facts consistent

Carton dimensions, gross weight, carton count, and pallet assumptions should match the booking request, the packing list, and the physical freight. Small data mismatches create large operational friction once customs, delivery, or Amazon appointments are involved.

Send one final revision, not many partial updates

Forwarders work faster when sellers send one confirmed document packet instead of multiple overlapping versions. Once the shipment is live, version control matters almost as much as the documents themselves.

What still needs human review

  • Required documents vary by route, cargo type, and customs setup.
  • This checklist does not replace customs, tax, or product-compliance advice.
