Answer: Confirm lane fit, document readiness, quote scope, destination handoff, and exception ownership before cargo leaves the supplier.

Confirm the shipment profile first

A forwarder cannot quote or route cleanly without the real cargo profile. Sellers should lock origin city, ready date, carton count, carton dimensions, gross weight, product description, declared value, and Amazon destination before comparing providers.

Check Amazon-specific operating capability

The useful question is not whether the provider ships internationally, but whether they can run Amazon-specific handoffs. Confirm they understand FBA labels, pallet rules, delivery appointments, prep-center routing, and what happens when Seller Central changes the receiving destination.

Compare total scope, not only the freight line

Ask whether pickup, export filing, customs, duty handling assumptions, destination fees, delivery, prep, relabeling, pallet work, and waiting-time exposure are included or excluded. A cheap linehaul quote with vague destination scope creates expensive surprises later.

Set exception ownership before dispatch

Sellers save time when the forwarder, supplier, prep team, and customs contacts know who owns missing labels, damaged cartons, late documents, customs questions, and missed appointments. The shipment moves faster when escalation paths are decided before the goods are already in transit.

Request one final execution pack

Before pickup, collect the final quote summary, packing data, labels, invoice, packing list, shipment references, and destination instructions in one packet. That single packet reduces version drift across supplier, forwarder, customs, and delivery teams.

What still needs human review

  • Live rates, customs requirements, and Amazon receiving rules still need lane-specific confirmation.
  • Battery, hazmat, and customs-sensitive goods require manual review before booking.
