Customs risk starts with product fit

Before booking freight, sellers should confirm whether the product has batteries, liquids, magnets, branded elements, wood packaging, regulated materials, or category-specific restrictions. A route that works for ordinary cartons may not work for customs-sensitive cargo.

The commercial file must match the physical freight

Invoices, packing lists, carton counts, weights, product descriptions, HS assumptions, and declared values should describe the actual shipment. Customs problems often begin when the paperwork is treated as an estimate instead of the operating record.

Declared value decisions need a defensible basis
