Confirm the shipment profile before consolidation

Consolidated shipping works best when every seller's freight is ready for predictable handling. Lock carton count, dimensions, gross weight, commodity description, declared value, and ready date before the forwarder assigns the goods to a shared China-to-US movement.

Match labels to the active FBA plan

Carton labels, FNSKU labels, shipment IDs, and reference numbers should match the current Seller Central plan. A consolidated load has less tolerance for late relabeling because one seller's bad data can delay the handoff for the whole shipment group.

Prepare customs documents early

Commercial invoice, packing list, product descriptions, HS code assumptions, and any battery or compliance documents should be reviewed before pickup. Consolidation does not remove customs responsibility; it only groups the freight movement.

Clarify the destination workflow

Decide whether the shipment goes direct to Amazon, through a US prep center, or through a transload warehouse for pallet work and appointment scheduling. The requirements are different for each path, especially when cartonized goods become palletized before FBA delivery.

Assign exception ownership

Before dispatch, identify who owns missing labels, short cartons, customs questions, split destinations, and Amazon appointment changes. Consolidated freight is efficient only when exceptions do not sit unresolved between supplier, forwarder, and prep team.

What still needs human review

Amazon receiving rules, carrier cutoffs, and consolidation schedules can change by lane and warehouse.
Restricted, branded, battery, liquid, or hazmat cargo needs manual review before joining a shared load.
