FCA Incoterms for Amazon FBA Sellers

Updated 2026-05-21

Answer: FCA means the seller delivers goods to a named place and clears export. The buyer or forwarder takes over from that handoff point, making it cleaner than EXW for many China export shipments.

Why FCA matters

FCA can be cleaner than EXW because the supplier handles export clearance, while the buyer still controls the international freight through their forwarder.

What to define

Define the named handoff place, export responsibility, loading responsibility, documents, pickup timing, and who pays inland trucking from the factory or warehouse.

FCA vs DDP

FCA gives the seller less downstream responsibility than DDP. DDP is simpler for the buyer operationally, but requires duty, customs, and delivery assumptions to be reviewed carefully.

What still needs human review

  • Incoterms do not replace the commercial contract.
  • Customs, tax, and importer-of-record responsibilities should be reviewed with qualified advisors.
